'Fascistic': Mary Trump warns a Republican admin will let 'everything burn to the ground' — 'literally'

Despite the fact that he is now facing four criminal indictments, former President Donald Trump remains the clear frontrunner in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.

Mid-August polls show Trump ahead of the primary's second-place candidate, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, by 39 percent (Quinnipiac University and The Economist/YouGov), 37 percent (Fox News), or 38 percent (Trafalgar Group). If these polls numbers continue to hold up, it is entirely possible that the United States will see a Joe Biden/Trump rematch in 2024.

Donald Trump's niece, psychologist/author Mary L. Trump, discussed her uncle's legal problems during a mid-August appearance on The Daily Beast's "New Abnormal" podcast. And she didn't mince words, warning that the U.S. will take a dark and "authoritarian" turn if Biden loses to her uncle or another Republican in 2024.

Donald Trump, his niece warned, is "showing" fellow Republicans "how to get away with murder and become more powerful, more cruel, more authoritarian and more fascistic."

Mary Trump warned, "If a Republican wins in 2024…. we will never have another democratic administration. And secondly, climate change will accelerate, as we've already seen it happening, because the Republican administration will just let everything burn to the ground. And I mean that literally."

The former president's niece pointed to the death threats that Trump's prosecutors — including special counsel Jack Smith and Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis — and elections workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss have received as evidence of the dire threat U.S. democracy is facing.

Mary Trump told the podcast hosts, "Is the system working when Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss were able to be treated the way they were treated? Is the system working when our ability to hold free and fair elections has been diminished because poll workers like them have been threatened and are quitting because it's too dangerous to do the job of counting the votes cast by the American people? So, no, it doesn't feel like the system is holding unless it's the system of two-tiered justice and our continuing ability to root out bad actors — to root out the racism and the misogyny inherent in that system."

The psychologist/author added that even though he's facing four criminal indictments, her uncle "is still being held to a different standard." And she warned that Donald Trump has the potential to incite more violence, describing him as a "scholastic terrorist."

"He's still being treated differently," Mary Trump said. "That should be considered a flare, an emergency flare, that the system is on the brink — not of holding, but of disintegrating…. We're going to lose our democracy. That's what's going to happen."
