Deputy AG Rosenstein Offered His Verbal Resignation to John Kelly in Anticipation of Being Fired by Trump: Report
24 September 2018
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has offered his verbal resignation to Chief of Staff John Kelly, Axios reports.
According to Axios’ Jonathan Swan, the deputy attorney general—who overseas the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with Donald Trump’s campaign—offered his resignation “in anticipation of being fired” by the president.
The news comes just days after the New York Times reported Rosenstein discussed invoking the 25th Amendment and wearing a wire in conversation with Trump.
CNN's Laura Jarrett reports that a source close to Rosentstein said the deputy attorney general expects to be fired, but has not offered his resignation.
