GOP senator’s ad claiming to support American families features 'stock footage' from other countries

US Senator Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) released an ad last month highlighting the ways she has supported American families during her last eight years in office.
According to a Wednesday report published by Heartland Signal, there's one problem with the ad. It includes "multiple scenes of people in different countries."
Sharing the ad via X, Heartland Signal wrote: "NEW: Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) is on the air with an ad about paid family leave for American families. Heartland Signal investigated, and it includes stock footage from Romania, Thailand and Bosnia and Herzegovina."

In its report, the Signal notes, "The first shot of Fischer’s ad also features text saying that Fischer 'passed the first ever paid family and medical leave law,' which is misleading because the bill in question (S.3680) has been introduced and referred to the Senate Finance Committee."
The report emphasizes that the legislation, "which would implement a permanent paid family and medical leave tax credit into federal law, has not been voted on in Congress at any level."
Kearney Hub reported Monday that Fischer received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, who lauded the GOP lawmaker "as an 'America first' conservative and casting her independent opponent as a 'radical' leftist."
According to The Hill, Independent candidate Dan Osborn is vying "to oust" Fischer "in the reliably red state." The report notes that while "Democrats are sitting out the race," Republican lawmakers "have sought to paint Osborn as a Democrat in independent’s clothing, though he has distanced himself from both parties."
