'Aren’t you from Maryland?' GOP rep slammed over post that 'elicits the voices of Hitler and Stalin'

US Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) was questioned Monday after suggesting that anyone living in the state of Texas — who is not a loyal Republican — should leave.

The Lone Star State lawmaker's remarks came after Dallas Fort Worth, Texas housing and economic analyst Amy Nixon wrote via X: "Austin, TX ranks #5 in a list of US Cities with the most people moving OUT This is the first time in YEARS that a Texas city has made the top 10 list."

Roy replied by sharing the analyst's post, and writing: "If you’re a radical progressive Democrat - don’t let the door hit you on your way fully out of Texas. If you’re sane and staying elsewhere in Texas… you’re welcome provided you leave that commie bullsh*t behind."

Several journalists, political and legal experts shot back.

"Aren't you from Maryland?" MSNBC analyst Brian Tyler Cohen replied.

Texas Monthly reported last year that the right-wing congressman was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and raised in Virginia.

Texas House candidate Cody Grace added: "The hospital I was born in is 1/2 mile from my front door. You are from Maryland. How about you gtfo (get the f—k out) of my state."

Journalist Christopher Hooks wrote: "When you see someone say that to be a Texan you have to believe in certain things, that person moved to Texas as an adult 9 times out of 10."

Midland, Texas criminal defense attorney Sara Spector commented: "Dear Chip: I was raised in Texas. I’m a Jew whose ancestors escaped from Nazi Austria and whom were kicked out of Ukraine. My grandmother was so proud of fellow Wacoan, Leon Jaworski prosecuting Nazis. Your message elicits the voices of Hitler and Stalin. Texas is my home."
