The comedienne and best-selling author ("Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea") is known to love her drink, but in her latest effort, Chelsea Handler trades in the shot glass for joints, pills, psychoactive Peruvian concoctions, and more.

It's all part of her new Netflix documentary series "Chelsea Does," in which she examines different aspects of modern life. The first of four one-hour documentaries is "Chelsea Does Drugs," in which she explores firsthand how drugs affect people.

"I want to be the best version of me that I can be," Handler explains. One can only hope that subsequently puking up ayahuasca into a plastic bucket on the floor of a jungle shack helped her achieve that goal.

"When you've done a lot of damage to your brain, is it reversible?" she asks a bemused scientist, then pauses. "I'm just asking for a friend."

Later, having dinner with friends, Handler declaims: "I've done a lot of drugs but I've never been, like, I have a problem, no," shrugging winsomely. "Isn't the person with the problem the last to know?" a companion retorts to much laughter.

The series premieres on January 22. The other three episodes are "Chelsea Does Marriage," "Chelsea Does Racism," and "Chelsea Does Silicon Valley."
