Capitol rioter and ‘life coach’ sentenced to 60 days in prison has been researching ‘life behind bars’: report

Dallas-based realtor Jenna Ryan, one of the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, was sentenced to 60 days in federal prison after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors and pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge. And according to Business Insider, Ryan has been researching what she can expect when she reports to a minimum-security prison in January.

“To prepare herself for life behind bars,” Business Insider’s Sophia Ankel reports, “Ryan said she's been reading books, doing online research, and watching YouTube videos about prison.”

Ryan is among the more privileged Capitol rioters. In early January, she flew to Washington, D.C. on a private jet, attending former President Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally before taking part in the assault on the U.S. Capitol Building.

Discussing her research on prison life with Business Insider, Ryan said, “I've been doing a lot of reading and research lately.... I now know that the general rules are: You don't talk to anybody, you watch out who you talk to, you don't ask anybody what they did. It's just a totally different world. But since I'm also a life coach, I can imagine that I'll end up making some pretty genuine connections while I'm there.”

The United States incarcerates more of its residents than any other country in the world — even more than Russia, Communist China, Iran or Saudi Arabia. And there is no shortage of information about U.S. prisons on YouTube. Florida-based Christina Randall, for example, is a former inmate whose popular YouTube channel focuses heavily on the conditions in women’s prisons.

Ryan also told Business Insider that she plans to lose weight in prison because she expects to be served “the worst food imaginable.” And Ryan noted that she has specifically researched minimum-security prisons.

Ryan told Business Insider, “I've watched all these videos about minimum-security prison, and the main concern is not the other inmates, but that you're treated very, very cruelly by the guards. I'm going to be treated poorly for 48 days. I may have people that try to run hustles on me, try to trick me.”

In a TikTok video, Ryan said, “I’m going to end up losing weight in prison. Everyone’s telling me that I’ll lose weight. So hopefully, I’ll finally get down to my ideal weight, because I won’t be able to drink, I won’t be able to eat. I won’t be able to eat stupid stuff like chips and all the stuff I eat sometimes.”
