'Cancun' Cruz brutally mocked for hypocritical 'don’t leave Americans behind' post: 'He feels no shame'

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is never shy about engaging in cheap political theatrics, and the crisis in Afghanistan — which has been taken over by the Taliban — is no exception. The far-right GOP senator has used the crisis to bash the Biden Administration. And on August 30, Cruz responded to CNN reporting about a Texas family that was struggling to get out of Afghanistan, posting, "Americans don't leave Americans behind." But Cruz's critics were quick to point out that he did exactly that when he left for Cancun, Mexico during a bitter February 2021 cold snap that left millions of Texas without heat, electricity or running water in freezing temperatures.
