Police Questioned Brett Kavanaugh Over His Involvement in a Bar Fight In College: Report

Between the repeated lies to the Senate, the accusations of sexual assault, and the history of excessive drinking, Brett Kavanaugh's act as a perfect gentleman has worn thin as more information about his past continues to trickle out.

According to a new report in The New York Times, Kavanaugh's drinking during his time at Yale led him into a bar brawl in 1985, which ended in him and his friends being questioned by the New Haven Police:

As an undergraduate student at Yale, Brett M. Kavanaugh was involved in an altercation at a local bar during which he was accused of throwing ice on another patron, according to a police report.

The incident, which occurred in September 1985 during Mr. Kavanaugh’s junior year, resulted in Mr. Kavanaugh and four other men being questioned by the New Haven Police Department. Mr. Kavanaugh was not arrested, but the police report stated that a 21-year-old man accused Mr. Kavanaugh of throwing ice on him “for some unknown reason.”

A witness to the fight said that Chris Dudley, a Yale basketball player who was friends with Mr. Kavanaugh, then hit the man in the ear with a glass, according to the police report, which was obtained by The New York Times.

The report said that the victim, Dom Cozzolino, “was bleeding from the right ear” and was later treated at a local hospital. A detective was notified of the incident at 1:20 a.m.

Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied drinking to excess, in part because a history of alcohol consumption that would severely impair his judgment or lead to memory loss is central to the allegations of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez, both of whom claim he sexually assaulted them under the influence. However, some of his classmates have disputed his characterization of his drinking.

Even President Donald Trump, who nominated Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and who is desperate to see him confirmed, appeared to contradict Kavanaugh's drinking denials in a speech on Monday, characterizing him as "a man saying that he did have difficulty as a young man with drink."
