'A f**king load of garbage': Internet slams Trump campaign for instructing TV producers to blacklist supporters of Mueller investigation

On Monday, President Donald Trump's campaign sent out a vaguely authoritarian letter to television producers demanding that they either blackball or publicly shame a number of commentators who suggested special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia could pose legal liability for Trump.

"The only way to interpret these conclusions is as a total and complete vindication of President Trump," read the memo. "The issuance of these definitive findings comes after two years of Democrat [sic] leaders and others lying to the American people by vigorously and repeatedly claiming there was evidence of collusion. They made many of these false claims, without evidence, on your airwaves."

"Moving forward, we ask that you employ basic journalistic standards when booking such guests to appear anywhere in your universe of production," the memo continued. "At a minimum, if these guests do reappear, you should replay the prior statements and challenge them to provide the evidence which prompted them to make the wild claims in the first place." The memo specifically named Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), and Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, and former CIA Director John Brennan.

In fact, Attorney General William Barr's summary does not absolve Trump of wrongdoing, and the full report has not been made available to the public or even to Congress. Moreover, the idea of a presidential campaign ordering the media to do their jobs a certain way, let alone not book sitting members of Congress on their networks, is inappropriate at best and chilling at worse.
