UN gender identity expert 'extremely concerned' about GOP attacks on 'the rights of LGBT persons'
Victor Madrigal-Borloz, the Independent Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity for the United Nations, condemned the efforts by right-wing American politicians to systematically erode LGBTQ+ rights throughout the United States.
“I am extremely concerned about a serious and I would say a concerted series of actions at state level, both legislative and administrative, that tend to base on prejudice and stigma to attack and to roll back the rights of LGBT persons," Madrigal-Borloz said at the UN's headquarters in New York City.
He added that "these actions appear to be concerted on a strategy that actually refers to limitations of access to gender-affirming treatment, limitations of access to comprehensive sexual and gender education, and, quite importantly, they also include the limitation of access to sports and of same-sex spaces."
