'Just a matter of time': Former Trump official issues grim warning to the unvaccinated
A former Trump-era coronavirus official is speaking out with a warning to the unvaccinated. According to The Hill, Adm. Brett Giroir, Trump's coronavirus testing czar, is appealing to the unvaccinated American public to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
During an appearance on Fox News' "America Reports," Giroir discussed current health guidelines as he emphasized how the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine "pale in comparison to what you will get if you get the COVID infection" as he noted just how high the contagion level is.
"If you have not been vaccinated, and you have not had COVID before, you will get the delta variant," Giroir argued. "This is so infectious that you will get it."
Giroir went on to note that while the initial COVID infection does offer some form of immunity, it remains unclear how effective that immunity is and how long it actually lasts. "The evidence is mounting that even natural immunity will not protect you against delta," he said.
"I am really concerned that natural immunity, although real, is not going to be sufficient against delta," Giroir continued. "If you don't have natural immunity and you're not vaccinated, you're going to get delta, so prevent it by getting your vaccine."
Speaking of the unvaccinated, Giroir warned that it is only a matter of time before they become infected with the virus. He went on to use the flu as an example of lackluster results where immunity is concerned.
"It is just a matter of time," he argued. "Remember, you can get the flu every year. It's not because your immunity isn't good, it's because the flu changes and delta is really a new strain that is different than everything we've seen."
All across the country, COVID cases are on the rise as the Delta variant continues to spread at an accelerated pace. Some states in the South are seeing upticks with daily case rates doubling and tripling across the board.
