A far-right reporter was expelled from White House press briefings — only to be invited back by a Trump aide
Fox News

One America News Network (OAN) is the hard-right cable news outlet that prides itself on being even more favorable to President Donald Trump than Fox News, and one of Trump’s most vocal cheerleaders at OAN has been Chanel Rion — who the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) voted, this week, to expel for refusing to follow social distancing rules during the coronavirus pandemic. But according to OAN, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham has invited Rion back into the briefing room.

On Thursday, OAN’s Jennifer Franco tweeted that Rion “has been invited by Stephanie Grisham to attend today’s coronavirus press briefing, despite being voted out the rotation by the WHCA yesterday for violating social distancing guidelines.”

Rion has drawn attention at White House press briefings by asking questions that were overtly favorable to Trump. And she also has a history of treating far-right conspiracy theorists like credible sources, including Greg Rubini — who has pushed the bogus claim that COVID-19 was “genetically engineered” in a laboratory in North Carolina with the help of Dr. Anthony Fauci (who Rubini has called “Little Tony Fauci”).
