'A major failure': Pro-Trump evangelical reporter turns against the president as his lies are exposed
Founded by far-right televangelist and conspiracy theorist Pat Robertson in the early 1960s, the far-right Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) has generally been quite favorable to President Donald Trump — and that includes CBN’s political analyst, David Brody, host of “The Brody File.”
But when Brody went to Twitter on March 12, he was surprisingly critical of Trump’s recent claim that coronavirus testing is readily available to Americans.
On March 6, Trump claimed, “Anybody that needs a test gets a test.” And Brody, on Twitter, acknowledged that Trump’s claim was blatantly false. The 55-year-old Brody tweeted, “On Friday March 6th, @realDonaldTrump said, ‘Anybody that needs a test gets a test.’ That is 100% FALSE. Full stop. He was wrong then and it’s wrong today too. Many American citizens want a #coronavirus test right now but can’t get access to one. This is a MAJOR FAILURE. @POTUS.”

“Being a great leader has many attributes,” he wrote in a follow-up tweet. “Confusing people is not among them. [Trump] provided false information about testing…multiple times! Invoking hyperbole in certain situations may be permissible but false statements about the #Coronavirus is sloppy & dangerous.”
Jon Ward, author of the book “Camelot's End: Kennedy vs. Carter and the Fight That Broke the Democratic Party,” saw Brody’s tweet was surprised to see him criticizing Trump.
Ward posted, “This is a pretty significant statement from someone who is normally very friendly toward Trump and the White House.”
