Vice President Mike Pence is the headline act for Concerned Women for America‘s 40th anniversary celebration – and fundraising – dinner Thursday night, at the Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office in Washington, D.C. Pence will deliver his remarks around 7 PM at the Christian conservative anti-gay group’s “Ruby Red and Black Tie Gala” at the Trump International’s Ballroom.

“The planned speeches suggest that President Trump and his Cabinet are not shying away from events that drive revenue to Trump’s company, even after multiple stories have brought new scrutiny to the blurring of lines between Trump’s business and presidency,” The Washington Post reports.

It’s a stunning circle of money and influence the President has created.

He leases The Old Post Office from the federal government, the building that houses the Trump International Hotel D.C. Those seeking influence rent rooms, hold events, and dine at his Trump D.C. hotel. Occasionally they may see, and even chat with the president when he dines there. And now, his top administration officials are being used to help the President make money as they advance a far right wing agenda.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will headline a luncheon Friday, also for Concerned Women for America, also at the Trump International Hotel D.C.

Concerned Women for America’s CEO and president, Penny Young Nance “serves on President Trump’s Life Advisory Council and is blessed to frequent the White House in that role and others speaking as a modern day Esther to both the President, Vice-President and key staff as the voice of Christian conservative women of faith around this nation,” CWA’s website says.

In other words, the “Biblical values and Constitutional principles” group is bragging about the level of influence it has on the Trump White House, including the president and vice president.

An early September report about the Concerned Women for America gala in The New York Times examined final planning steps for tonight’s event.

“There was the contract with the president’s hotel to be reviewed. And there was also unfinished business with the White House — logistical issues posed by two guests from the administration, Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and most important, the status of the video message and letter from President Trump himself that the group wanted for the dinner,” The Times noted.

“That is the gold standard,” said Kenda Bartlett, Concerned Women for America’s executive director. “If we can get that, the rest of this is just dressing.”

Concerned Women for America is not listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-gay hate group, but the watchdog non-profit hate group monitor does have a lot to say about the Christian conservative organization. A search of the SPLC’s website shows more than 200 results for “Concerned Women for America,” including an entry on the SPLC’s famous 2010 list of “18 Anti-Gay Groups and Their Propaganda.”
