Texas’ 24th Congressional District, in the north Dallas/Ft. Worth suburbs, used to be reliably blue until it was gerry-rigged in 2003 giving Republicans the upper hand. Republican Kenny Marchant was elected in 2006 with 60% of the vote, but Democrat Jan McDowell fought him to a near tie in 2018, losing by only 1 percentage point.

Now we have a new candidate:

If Marchant isn’t nervous now he should be.

Kim’s bio at Ballotpedia:

“Olson served in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 2005 and reached the rank of Colonel. She graduated from the Ohio State University in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in education. She received her master's degree in business administration from Webster University in St. Louis in 1987, her master's degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College in 1994, and her master's degree in national security strategy from National Defense University in 2000. She served as a Fellow at the Urban Superintendents Academy of the Broad Center Management of School Systems in 2005. Olson's career experience includes working as Director of HR for Dallas ISD and CEO of Grace After Fire. She has been associated with the Palo Pinto County as the vice president master gardener, the Information Technology Texas State Guard Headquarters as director, and the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Parker County as a member of the board of trustees. Olson was previously elected to the Weatherford Independent School District Board of Trustees from 2007 to 2011.”
