Helicopter crash into Manhattan building kills one person: officials
News & Politics

A helicopter crashed into a Manhattan skyscraper on Monday afternoon and the pilot has been killed, according to the New York Fire Department. The building was identified as 787 7th Ave.

Workers inside the building reported feeling a tremor when the helicopter hit. They were then directed to evacuate the building through the stairwells.

The weather on Monday was rainy and foggy, and images of the skyscraper that was hit showed the top to be obscured by clouds.

Officials reported that a fire created by the crash has been extinguished.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that fire started after an "emergency or hard landing," according to the Wall Street Journal.
