‘Welcome to the beginning of the fascist takeover’: Utah judge suspended for 6 months without pay after series of anti-Trump remarks

In Utah, Judge Michael Kwan has made it clear that he doesn’t think much of Donald Trump’s presidency. And the judge has been suspended for six months without pay by the Utah Supreme Court after posting a series of anti-Trump comments online.
Kwan was critical of Trump during the 2016 election and continued to be critical of him after he became president. The Utah Supreme Court, suspending Kwan, cited some of his online comments.
After Trump won in 2016, Kwan seemingly referenced the “Access Hollywood” tape in which Trump can be heard saying, “Grab them by the p***y.” The judge posted, “Think I’ll go to the shelter to adopt a cat before the president-elect grabs them all.”
And in 2017, Kwan posted, “Welcome to the beginning of the fascist takeover. We need to be diligent in questioning Congressional Republicans if they are going to be the American Reichstag.”
Kwan made another anti-Trump comment in January 2017, when he told a defendant who needed to pay a court fine, “Don’t worry. There is a tax cut for the wealthy. So if you make over $500,000, you’re getting a tax cut.”
