'What is going on in the head of the president': MSNBC's Maddow mocks Trump's ridiculous belief that he just invented the 4th of July parade
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow appeared to be downright perplexed by President Donald Trump's bizarre suggestion on Tuesday that Washington, D.C., should hold a Fourth of July parade.
It was a bizarre suggestion, of course, because D.C. already has such a parade — and yet the president was acting like it was a new idea. Maddow mocked the president's claims, saying that next he'll propose ideas like baseball, rap music, or summer vacations for schoolkids.
But she also treated the topic with a degree of seriousness.
"I kid you not, the president today proposed, to reporters in all seriousness from the White House that he's thinking there should maybe be fireworks and parade on the Fourth of July in Washington D.C. It could catch on. Could become a tradition," she said. "What's going on in the head of the president of the United States that he thinks this annual celebration should henceforth be attributed to him as if he dreamed it up?"
