This Alt-Right Group Sent Gov. Andrew Cuomo an Unsettling Package as Democrats Were Targeted with Explosive Devices
As reports proliferated about Democratic politicians and other prominent figures receiving explosive devices in the mail, seemingly contradictory information seemed to imply that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, also a Democrat, had received a similar device.
In fact, the governor's office eventually revealed that the "device" it received was a flash drive filled with files from the alt-right group the Proud Boys. It seems in the midst of the reports of other high-profile Democrats receiving explosive devices, the package was considered to be suspicious.
Members of the group had recently been arrested after a violent attack in New York City.
"Thank you for all the kindness directed at @CNN and for the concern about my brother," tweeted CNN host Chis Cuomo, the governor's brother. "The gov did not get targeted as far as anyone knows. That was a false report. Your reax show there is much more that unites than divides. Even now - especially now."
Reporter Zack Fink from NY1 shared a picture showing the package the governor received:
