Watch: London Police Officer Stops Black Man and Demands He 'Account' for His Presence

A black man was stopped and questioned in London on August 8th for seemingly no reason. Samuel Eni recorded the incident and posted it online.

“So today this happened to me it’s called 'Stop and Accounting' now under the law the police don’t have the power to force you stay but this situation was different. This is completely racial profiling, stereotyping, and prejudice,” Eni wrote.

The incident highlighted the legal authority British police have to question people at random and demand an accounting of their plans. Police can't technically detain a person for no reason, but the intimidation factor is high and the practice lends itself to racial profiling.

“I felt like that’s something they could take advantage of,” he said to the BBC. “I didn’t feel I could leave at any point.”
