Al Sharpton Slams Trump at Aretha Franklin's Funeral: She 'Never Took Orders from Nobody But God!'

As the world continues to mourn the loss of music icon Aretha Franklin, Rev. Al Sharpton delivered a moving and passionate speech at her funeral on Friday celebrating her legacy.
He also took the opportunity to fire back at President Donald Trump, who had tried to claim part of Franklin's legacy as his own after her death, claiming "she worked for me" because she had performed at his failed casino.Â
"The other Sunday on my show, you know, I misspelled 'respect,' and a lot of y'all corrected me," Sharpton said. "Now I want y'all to help me correct Donald Trump, to teach him what it means."
The crowd stood and cheered at that remark.
"When word went out that Ms. Franklin passed, Trump said she used to work for me. No, she used to perform for you. She worked for us," he said. "Aretha never took orders from nobody but God!"
