Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Fires Back At GOP Rep Who Dismissed Her As ‘This Girl - Or Whatever’
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the up-and-coming progressive House candidate who pulled off a stunning victory against Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) last month, responded to Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) after he dismissed her at a campaign rally over the weekend
“You look at this girl Ocasio-Cortez or whatever she is, I mean, she’s in a totally different universe,” DeSantis said Saturday. “It’s basically socialism wrapped in ignorance.”
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Ocasio-Cortez told the GOP rep exactly who she is.
“Rep DeSantis, it seems you‘re confused as to ‘whatever I am,’” Ocasio-Cortez wrote. “I am a Puerto Rican woman. It‘s strange you don’t know what that is, given that ~75,000 Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida in the 10 mos since MarÃa.”
“But I’m sure these new FL voters appreciate your comments!” she added.

This isn't the first time Ocasio-Cortez has used Twitter to target her detractors. Earlier this month, she knocked Newsmax host John Cardillo for implying she was lying about her background after he posted a photo of her childhood home and called it “a far cry from the Bronx hood upbringing she’s selling.”
“Your attempt to strip me of my family, my story, my home, and my identity is exemplary of how scared you are of the power of all four of those things,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.
