Rod Blagojevich's Wife Goes on the Attack Against Mueller and Comey While Praising Trump on Fox News
Patti Blagojevich, the wife of disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, praised President Donald Trump Thursday night on Fox News while disparaging James Comey and Robert Mueller.
The appearance came as Trump appears to be considering whether he will pardon Blagojevich, who was found guilty on seventeen charges, including conspiracy to solicit bribes. The case drew national attention in part because his crimes were related to an attempt to sell President Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat. Some have argued that Blagojevich's 14-year prison sentence was disproportionate for to his crimes.
"My husband ... is serving more time than any other politician for charges that have to do with simply fundraising," Patti Blagojevich said on Fox News.
Speaking of the leadership of the federal investigators who prosecutor her husband, which include frequent targets of Trump's wrath Comey and Mueller, she said, "These same people are trying to do the same thing that they did to my husband on a much larger scale. They were emboldened. They took down a governor and now they've got their sights much higher."
She said she had been heartened by the suggestion that Trump might pardon her husband, even after Obama, a member of Blagojevich's own party, had declined to do so.
"We are all so grateful that the president is thinking of us in this way," she said. "But it's been such a long road for us."
Patti Blagojevich also included a personal appeal and praise for Trump, who is known to be a frequent Fox News viewer.
"We know that President Trump is a kind man, and he's compassionate," she said. "He's always been kind to my family. He knows how important it is that my husband gets home to be a father for our daughters."
