Fox News Apologizes After Using Misleading Image to Bolster Trump's Attacks on Kneeling NFL Players

During a report about President Donald Trump canceling a visit by the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House, Fox News played at least one misleading image of the NFL players in prayer (seen above).

The image was presented as an example of the players kneeling during the national anthem in protest against police brutality.

Fox News' Christopher Wallace, executive producer of the show on which the footage aired, released a formal apology on behalf of the network following the misleading reporting.

"During our report about President Trump canceling the Philadelphia Eagles trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer," the statement said. "To clarify, no members of the team knelt in protest during the national anthem throughout regular or post-season last year. We apologize for the error."

No current players for the Philadelphia Eagles have been reported to take a knee during the previous season's games.
