CNN's Anderson Cooper Exposes Trump's Wild Hypocrisy for Calling Out Samantha Bee
CNN's Anderson Cooper on Friday revealed President Donald Trump's complete hypocrisy in his Twitter attack on Samantha Bee on Friday, pointing out that Trump constantly holds himself to a double standard, even while accusing others of doing the same thing. Cooper dubbed it a "double standard standard."
The segment followed a week of controversy in the world of Television, first with Roseanne Barr's racist tweet toward Valerie Jarrett and then with Samantha Bee's use of the word "c*nt" to describe Ivanka Trump. But while Trump failed to condemn Barr, whose show was canceled, he asked on Twitter why Bee hadn't been fired.
"You can certainly ask whether it's a double standard that Samantha Bee, a Trump critic, still has a job after what she said while Roseanne Barr, a Trump supporter, was fired for her racist remarks," Cooper said. "But keeping them honest, merely holding the President to the very same 'double-standard standard' he himself laid out in his tweet this morning, it's not hard to find places where he himself comes up short."
He continued: "The president has yet to tweet once about the actual content of [Barr's] remarks, but he had no trouble embracing her when her ratings were good."
But Cooper didn't stop there. He also pointed out that Trump called out former Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) when he was accused of sexual misconduct, but he still endorsed Roy Moore, who was accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl, among other allegations. Nor has Trump ever confronted the fact of his own grossly objectionable language and the voluminous accusations of assault and misconduct made against him.
