‘Roseanne Barr Is A Racist': Fox News' Shep Smith Rips ABC For Only Canning Bigoted Star After Backlash

Fox News host Shep Smith on Tuesday offered a blunt description of former ABC star Roseanne Barr, telling viewers “racism is not funny and Roseanne Barr is a racist—now her show is cancelled.” Smith also scolded the network for supporting the star despite her history of bigotry.

Smith explained that ABC will “nix the hit reboot” of “Roseanne” after Barr on Tuesday sent a racist tweet about former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Barr described Jarrett as a cross between the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.”

Smith said Barr “tried to say she was sorry,” but noted “it’s not as if ABC did not know it had a show whose star is racist.” Previously, Barr had called former national security adviser Susan Rice “a man with big swinging ape balls.”

“Despite her history, ABC was sticking with its star, at least until today,” Smith said.
