Democratic Senator Says Trump Jr. Needs to Testify in Public Hearing After Previously Providing 'False Testimony'
Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) has formally filed a request with Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to bring Donald Trump Jr. back to chambers for a public hearing.
Coons explains that he is "deeply concerned" President Donald Trump's oldest son provided "false testimony" based on information he "learned this week."
Trump Jr. previously testified that he was "not aware of" offers from foreign governments to assist his father's campaign.
Coons said "multiple news reports" contradict this claim and place Trump Jr. at a Trump Tower meeting with an emissary for the crown princes of the United Arab Emirates three months before the 2016 election.
"It is fundamental to the integrity of the Senate Judiciary Committee that testifying witnesses must be truthful," Coon concludes.
