'An Absolute Buffoon on Television': Michael Avenatti Fires Back at Rudy Giuliani's Lie-Filled Fox News Appearance
Michael Avenatti fired back at President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani on MSNBC Wednesday evening, calling him a "joke" after Giuliani falsely claimed that Avenatti had been kicked out of court earlier in the day.
Avenatti, who represents the porn star known as Stormy Daniels in her case against Trump and his attorney Michael Cohen, appeared in court on Wednesday for a hearing about the government's handling of evidence obtained from Cohen's offices. Avenatti claimed the hearing was relevant to his case, but the judge said he could not personally represent his client, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, as long as he continues his "publicity tour."
On Fox News Wednesday night, Giuliani twisted this into a claim that Avenatti was thrown out of court by the judge because he was unethical and a liar. As Lawrence O'Donnell explained when he hosted Aveantti on his show "The Last Word," none of these claims were true.
"Lawerence, this is pathetic," Avenatti said. "This is the best that Donald Trump can do? With all the lawyers in America? Is this guy? This guy is a known liar, he can't keep his facts straight, he doesn't know the law, he contradicts himself, he's an absolute buffoon on television. This is the lawyer that represents the president of the United States? It's an absolute joke."
