Jared Kushner's Shady Russian Contacts Are Reportedly Why He Can't Get a Full Security Clearance

Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and top aide, still lacks a full security clearance despite working in the White House for over a year. According to a new report Thursday night, CNN has found that Rober Mueller's Russia investigation is the major roadblock to his getting cleared.

As long as the investigators are examining Kushner's extensive foreign financial ties and contacts with Russians, Kushner is unable to get a full clearance, sources told CNN. Kushner has been working with an interim security clearance in lieu of full approval.

Chief of Staff John Kelly recently moved to oust anyone without a full security clearance after he came under fire for allowing Rob Porter, whose two ex-wives accused him of assaulting them, to stay on even after the FBI expressed concerns. The White House has said that Kushner can stay even if his security clearance is officially denied.

Were Kushner not a direct family member of the president, he would almost certainly have been fired long ago. He has repeatedly been forced to update his financial disclosure forms for failing to provide full and accurate information. While this happens occasionally, experts say the extent of his revisions are "out of the ordinary."

Kushner was also a major player in the infamous Trump Tower meeting, arranged by Donald Trump Jr., after the campaign was offered secret help from the Russian government in June 2016. This potentially illegal meeting — which even Steve Bannon called treasonous — would likely have gotten anyone else fired. And yet Kushner soldiers on.

The presidential son-in-law also confirmed he tried to set up private communications with the Russians through the country's embassy. This proposal is even more suspicious than it would normally be, due to the campaign's consistent dissembling about its communications with Russia.

In light of the facts, there's not much of a question about why he hasn't gotten a security clearance yet. The only real question is: Why does he have access to classified information at all?
