Former U.S. Attorney Says Trump's Pressure on GOP Lawmakers to End Russia Probe May Have Been Obstruction of Justice

Former U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance of Alabama told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow that President Trump's reported attempts to pressure lawmakers into ending the Russia investigation may represent obstruction of justice.


She also had strong opinions about whether a defense of ignorance would protect the president.

“If he lives in a bubble despite his experience in life, there is an old saying that young lawyers learn in law school,” Vance said: “Ignorance of the law is no defense."

The former attorney explained that defenses based on ignorance rarely succeed in corruption trials.
