MSNBC's Katy Tur Discovered a Genius Trick for Getting Trump's Attention
Katy Tur is an expert when it comes to interviewing President Trump. During the 2016 presidential race, she was an NBC News reporter embedded with Trump's campaign.
She recently released a book about the experience, titled Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History.
Tur was having a panel discussion on MSNBC about Sen. Lindsey Graham's repeated flattery toward the president's golf game when she revealed that a very specific form of ego-boosting would always get Trump's attention.
The key was his never-ending quest to be perceived as popular in polls.
“When the president wasn’t happy with my reporting during the campaign and I wanted to get him to comment on something in a gaggle or after a debate, I would often toss out one of the polls that he was doing well in, in order to get him to turn towards me and to let me ask my second followup question,” Tur explained.
