Donald Trump Jr. Dismissed His Secret Service Detail for 'Privacy'
Donald Trump Jr. sent the Secret Service packing last week, refusing continued protection for himself and citing privacy concerns as the reason.
The New York Times says this information comes from a senior official in President Donald Trump's administration.
Secret Service protection is required by law to protect the immediate family members of the president, unless members dismiss the coverage. The dismissal by Trump Jr. will raise eyebrows as he remains under intense scrutiny over possible collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential election.
A spokesperson for the Secret Service offered the following statement when asked about the report: “To ensure the safety and security of our protectees and their families, we will not confirm who is currently receiving Secret Service protection.”
The Times notes Kellyanne Conway will be losing her protection too, but noted that it's unrelated to Trump Jr.
