CNN's Chris Cuomo Shuts Down Republican Senator Whining About Fake News
CNN’s Chris Cuomo has grown very tired of Republicans shooting down any facts that go against their political messaging as “fake news.”
During a discussion with Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) about the Senate’s health care bill, the senator said that opponents of the GOP bill were intentionally using misinformation about the senate’s plan to drive public opposition.
“We need information, and the debate on this thing is completely distorted using incorrect information,” Johnson fumed.
Cuomo at this point stopped him dead in his tracks.
“You’re not suggesting that I’m using misleading information, right?” Cuomo asked him. “You let me know what I’m saying that is accurate. Because this whole ‘fake’ thing needs to end, and it needs to end right now. You tell me what I’m getting wrong, or we’ll deal with the number as the CBO is putting them out.”
Johnson quickly backed down.
“I’m not talking about you,” he said. “I’m talking about the fact that people don’t understand the [estimate that 22 million people would lose health care under the Senate GOP’s bill] was using the wrong baseline.”
