'Morning Joe' Is Positively Seething Over the Latest Michael Flynn Revelations
On Friday the "Morning Joe” panel dived into a new report detailing the lobbying work of former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, during Trump's presidential campaign. What they found left them appalled.
"Flynn and his firm were voluntarily registering for lobbying from August through November that 'could be construed to have principally benefited the Republic of Turkey,'" the Associated Press reported Thursday.
“That man was a foreign agent of Turkey, who has been hostile towards U.S. interests for a good part of the Syrian civil war, and was getting paid at the same time he was delivering a speech trashing Hillary Clinton at the Republican National Convention,” host Joe Scarborough fumed Friday morning.
"It’s shocking,” Scarborough continued.
"Morning Joe" guest John Heilemann, coauthor of Game Change, said, “Donald Trump, in all of his public comments about this, has basically acted as if Michael Flynn was persecuted—you know, a good man driven from office by the hounds in the mass media. Now you have Mike Pence trying to put a nice gloss on that and saying, 'Well, this vindicates the president’s decision to fire him.'"
"This guy was... acting as a foreign agent, literally as a foreign agent, not metaphorically, while he was traveling with Donald Trump," sputtered Heilemann. "That is one of the most extraordinary—if it’s true they did not know—one of the most extraordinary failures of vetting I’ve ever heard of.”
