White House Press Secretary Strongly Suggests Trump Will Push Through Dakota Access Pipeline

During a press conference Monday, White Press Secretary Sean Spicer heavily implied that President Trump would overturn the permit denial that is prohibiting a pipeline from being built through the Standing Rock Reservation in the Dakotas.

"I'm not going to get in front of the President's executive actions," said Spicer, "but I will tell you that areas like the Dakota and Keystone pipeline are areas that we can increase jobs, increase economic growth, and tap into America's energy supply. That's something that he's been very clear about."

In December, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that it would not grant the final permit needed for the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline to be completed and that it would conduct an environmental impact review before continuing any part of the process. While the victory was always perceived as temporary, it was a major win for the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and the activists who supported its fight against the pipeline.

Trump has previously stated that he supports the completion of the pipeline.
