GA Tornado Victim Recounts Horror: 'Some People Weren't Even Fortunate Enough to Have a Front Door to Walk out Of'

The deep south has been hit with a series of deadly tornadoes; at least a dozen in the state of Georgia, according to the Weather Channel. By Saturday, Albany was hit, leaving 50 injured and three dead. It was the most severe weather in the area in over two decades.

"Something helped us walk out of the front door of the house, because there's some people that weren't even fortunate enough to have a front door to walk out of," Albany mobile home resident Anthony Mitchell told the Associated Press.

Once television stations began to broadcast the tornado warning, Mitchell scrambled to find shelter.

"I got my wife and kids in the hallway. The windows exploded. The doors flew off the hinges. The sheetrock started to rip off the walls and fly out the windows, the trailer started to lift up," he recalled. "By that time, a tree fell on the trailer. I think that's what actually held the trailer in place from flying away."
