Twitter Users Rip Politico Founder for Cozy Press Photo With Donald Trump
On Sunday, Donald Trump took a break from berating reporters (or as he prefers to call them the "dishonest media") to host them for drinks and an off-the-record conversation at a thank-you tour/neo-Nuremberg Rally at his Mar-a-Lago resort. The president-elect—who hasn't hosted a press conference since July and canceled one last week in which he had promised to discuss his vast business conflcts of interest—apparently decided he would try to buy the media off with the crumbs of an off-the-record talk. And Politico co-founder Mike Allen, now of Axios, thought it would be a great idea to tweet about the cozy confab:
Christmas @ Mar-a-Lago: @realDonaldTrump, relaxed and chatty, hosts press for drinks -- off-record but pics OK… https://t.co/b4Yz7wtoza— Mike Allen (@Mike Allen) 1482114435.0
If you think this is what being bought off looks like, you're not alone. Scores of Allen's followers ripped him a new one at the sight of the media getting cozy with the man who uses them as a political punching bag.
.@mikeallen hope you enjoyed your cocktails, you dishonest scum 🤗 https://t.co/99c4jYVSJz— Zachary Paul Sire (@Zachary Paul Sire) 1482118279.0
Over past week, Trump's mocked the press on "Thank you" tour and canceled first news conference since July. Here's… https://t.co/WoBQcExub1— Michael Calderone (@Michael Calderone) 1482119225.0

The man the Washington Post once called the "Walter Winchell of the Washington political set," showed a remarkable lack of media savvy in posting this picture. Unless Mike Allen himself is auditioning for troll of the year? It has been 144 days since Trump's last press conference.
