Bernie Sanders Takes Action Against Trump's Exploitation of Tax Loopholes With New Bill
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) remains a staunch advocate for working people and one of Hillary Clinton's strongest surrogates. Since appearing on CNN blasting Trump on the bombshell New York Times report, Sanders has taken his resentment with the so-called billionaire to the next level. On Tuesday, Sanders announced that he would introduce legislation to effectively close the loopholes Donald Trump exploited that allowed him to potentially avoid paying federal income tax for decades.
“Special tax breaks and loopholes in a corrupt tax code enable billionaires and powerful corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes while sticking the burden on the middle class,” Sanders said.
Sanders insists that a tax code which favors wealthy investors like Trump does not, in fact, help the economy. Only a corrupt system would reward Trump's $916 million in losses, like it did according to the documents obtained by the New York Times.
“It's time to create a tax system which is fair and which asks the wealthy and powerful to start paying their fair share of taxes. I will be introducing comprehensive legislation at the beginning of the next session of Congress to do just that,” Sanders announced.
