Watch: Couple Takes LSD, Attempts to Assemble Ikea Furniture

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to put together an Ikea chest of drawers while tripping brains on acid? Some people have, and we get to see the results.

It's all thanks to the folks at Hikea Productions, who say this is only the first episode in a video series in which "we document the experiences of regular people—high on drugs like LSD or magic mushrooms—attempting to build well-priced furniture." Each future episode will "introduce a new drug, new characters, a new Ikea puzzle," they promise.

Assembling the flat-pack furniture, in which each tiny piece must be matched to the instructions provided, is frustrating enough when operating under the conditions of consensus reality, but proves nearly—but not quite—insurmountably confounding under the influence of a couple hundred micrograms.

In this opening video, a young couple known as Giancarlo and Nikki eat some blotter acid, get giggly, develop cosmic consciousness, dance around a while, then get down to the task at hand.

"You ready to build some furniture?" Giancarlo asks as the two dissolve in laughter, incredulous at the very ridiculousness of the idea.

Giancarlo manages to hammer one nail, then declares triumphantly, "That was step one!" and giggles.

The psychedelicized pair did manage to assemble a single chest of drawers, but it took them three hours and 53 minutes, and Nikki, at least, had arrived at a profound insight.

"I'm done with this," she says. "I will never build furniture on acid again."
