Steelers' QB Roethlisberger Vows He Won't Endorse Trump After Trump Claims He's 'With Us 100%'
Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, told a Pittsburgh crowd on Saturday that he has the support of their home team quarterback, the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger.
The only problem is, on Saturday, Roethlisberger vowed to stay out of politics. Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Trump is an “acquaintance” of his. However, the athlete known as “Big Ben” said he will not be endorsing Trump or going to the Republican National Convention.
That’s a different story than the one Trump told his supporters.
“I love Big Ben. Do we love Big Ben?” Trump said. “I just spoke to him, what a great guy. And he’s with us 100 percent, what a great guy.”
Roethlisberger was accused of raping a Lake Tahoe casino hostess in 2008. The resulting lawsuit was settled in 2012. He was accused again of rape in 2010 in Georgia. The prosecutor in the case declined to file charges.
