WATCH: Colbert Mocks Trump for Pathetically Taking His 'Begging Bowl' Overseas
The Trump campaign has had major financing problems lately, starting June with $1.3 million, an alarmingly low number compared to Hillary Clinton’s $42 million. “The man says he has 10 billion dollars,” Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show,” pointed out on Wednesday. He, like many Americans at this point in the election, is starting to question Trump’s actual worth.
“The Trump campaign, in response to these low numbers have amped up their fundraising, but it looks like they may have gone overboard… and overseas, because members of the British Parliament have been getting repeated emails from Trump asking for money... just five days too late," revealed Colbert, reflecting on the devastating economic effects of Brexit.
The British MPs are really put off by the Trump spam, and some have even written back.
“Quite why you think it appropriate to write emails to UK parliamentarians with a begging bowl for your … repugnant campaign is beyond me,” responded Glasgow East MP Natalie McGarry upon receiving the message.
"I can understand why the British are complaining ‘cause I’ve got one of Trump’s spam emails right here,” Colbert announced.
“‘Hello, sex friend, looking to make America country again great, purr with delight, make lady America go ‘wow, wow, wow, big time.’ Citizen please enjoy loveliest president, please donate with pleasure, Trump 2016,” mocked Colbert.
Although if Trump had sent that message, it would have probably yielded the exact same results.
