Cruz 2020? Bizarre Campaign Ad Leaves Unanswered Questions

It’s never too early to start thinking of the next election, at least not for Ted Cruz, who released a bizarre 5 minute ad online a week after dropping out of the presidential race.

The spot opens with a campaign manager or motivational speaker speaking to a roomful of disappointed faces in captured in a series of closeups. But as the speaker rattles on about regret, it’s not clear for an awkward amount of time if the scene is a political barnstorming or therapy session.

“This is literally a regre- free campaign. We literally did every single thing we could,” the announcer tells the small crowd of brightly lit white faces.

Except win, right? “Ted Cruz didn’t lose,” he continues. "Our campaign for President lost."

Ted Cruz finally appears in the ad.

"This battle is about a lot more than one election cycle or one candidate, it is about principles that are eternal," Cruz told CNN as he held off on endorsing Trump.

“This is the greatest honor of my life,” Cruz announces in the spot. “We left everything on the field,” the former presidential candidate adds.
