Watch: Mitt Romney's Niece Has Some Really Bad News for Him
The niece of the "GOP's most prominent Trump critic—Mitt Romney—has pledged to vote for Donald Trump at the party's national convention. Ronna Romney McDaniel is the chair of the Michigan Republican Party and "believes it's her duty to vote in accordance with her state's" majority, according to Fox News.
She hasn't spoken with the 2012 Republican nominee about her decision though. "I left that up to my dad to tell my uncle," McDaniel told Fox's Megyn Kelly. "That was not a phone call I wanted to make. I'm pretty sure I'm out of the will at this point.
"As an RNC delegate, I chose to bind myself to the majority vote of Michigan. I remain neutral as chair, but I will be a Trump delegate in Cleveland," she continued. "My intention is to stay with the voters of Michigan, to show them that the Michigan Republican party is not disenfranchising their vote. We’ll see what happens in Cleveland.”
Party unification trumps the "stop Trump" effort, at least for Ronna Romney McDaniel. "I support any of our candidates above Hillary Clinton," said the party chair. "I have to unify everybody at the end.”
