'As a Full-Blown Nut Job, I Freakin' Love Him': SNL Skewers Donald Trump Defender Scottie Nell Hughes
“Saturday Night Live” returned last night from two weeks’ hiatus, cold-opening with an oddly specialized parody of CNN’s “At This Hour.”
SNL cast members Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong played host Kate Bolduan and Trump-supporting pundit Scottie Nell Hughes, respectively.
The real Scottie Nell Hughes was a good sport about it all (on Twitter, at least):
“As a woman, I like Donald Trump,” Strong-as-Hughes began. “But as a full-blown nut job, I freakin’ love him.”
Asked how she can continue to justify defending Trump’s sexist antics (e.g. his retweeting an “unflattering” picture of opponent Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi), Strong-as-Hughes argued, “Donald’s hands are just so big, he can’t see every little tweet his fingers retweet.”
“Let’s not forget, Heidi Cruz … has been arrested,” she continued. “Donald told me she is so fat, she was arrested for having ten pounds of crack.”
Strong-as-Hughes cited Ivanka, Trump’s daughter, as evidence of his love of women. McKinnon-as-Bolduan threw to “a clip of Donald talking about his daughter from a rally this morning.”
In the “clip,” Trump (played by former-cast member and current announcer Darrell Hammond) calls Ivanka “the best.”
“She’s so smart, so talented, and what a rack,” he continued. “She just had a baby. Can you imagine that rack now? Just tremendous.”
