Bernie Sanders Apologizes for Comment Made By Surrogate at Massive Washington Square Park Rally Last Night

The Sanders campaign came under fire last night over a comment made by one of his surrogates to the crowd in New York City before Sanders arrived. Dr. Paul Song spoke passionately about his support for Medicare for all, a major component of the Sanders platform.
“While I agree with Secretary Clinton that Medicare for all will never happen, if we have a president who never aspires for anything greater than the status quo. Medicare for all will never happen if we continue to elect corporate democratic whores who are beholden to big pharma and the private insurance industry instead of us."
The comment was made before Sanders arrived at the rally. However, he tweeted this morning:
Paul Song insists that the comment was directed at members of Congress and not Hillary Clinton.
Song’s wife is Lisa Ling, a Clinton Supporter. In 2009, Bill Clinton advocated for the release of Ling’s sister in law from a North Korean prison.
