Poll: Americans Dislike Trump More Than the GOP, Even at Its Lowest Favorability Rating in Years

Election '16

If everyone voted for candidates they thought highly of, John Kasich would be the GOP frontrunner. Despite only winning one state, the Ohio governor’s favorability rating is almost twice that of Trump’s, according to a new poll.

In fact, Kasich has a higher net favorability rating (46%) than not only Donald Trump (29%) and the Republican Party (33%), but Paul Ryan (40%), Ted Cruz (32%) and Congress (29%). Sen. Lindsey Graham, who endorsed Ted Cruz this week, admitted he thinks, “John Kasich would be the best nominee [but] is an insider in an outsider year and nobody seems to want to buy that."

The Bloomberg Politics Poll, conducted March 19-22 for Bloomberg Politics, is based on interviews with 1,000 U.S. adults ages 18 or older. The poll also asked respondents about alternate Cruz and Trump concerns.

For Cruz, Republican voters were bothered most by the fact that he has alienated fellow members of the Senate, and most Republican senators do not support his candidacy (46%).

For Trump, the three lawsuits for misleading students was the biggest concern for Republicans (46%), more so than initially failing to denounce the support of David Duke, a former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

As for the fights at Trump rallies, 64% of Republican voters blamed the violence on people protesting the GOP frontrunner’s candidacy.
