Majority of Trump Supporters Feel White People Are Disenfranchised
More Republican than Democratic voters believe whites are ones losing out according to recent polling, and “if you look specifically at Trump supporters, you see a much higher number,” confirmed Ana Kasparian, host of The Young Turks.
“More than half of Trump supporters, 54 thought white people losing out was a bigger problem. The share of Trump supporters who believed whites were losing out was 12 points higher than the share of all Republican voters surveyed in the poll who believed this,” reported Talking Points Memo.
“First of all, the data on this is overwhelming. Whether it’s housing discrimination, job discrimination, getting locked up, African Americans and Latinos are at a great disadvantage. Trump has proudly ran a campaign on racism so how could we possibly be surprised that that he has [the support of] people who think the white person is under thumb of blacks and latinos," explained The Young Turks host, Cenk Uygur.
“These are people who have historically discriminated against minority groups and they didn’t think much of it," said Kasparian, adding, "and now there are all these laws in place that fight back against that discrimination. So they’re losing out in a sense because they can’t say the things that they used to say or carry out the actions that they used to carry, without at the very least, some criticism. So I guess in a sense they are losing out, but that’s life. This is a country with diversity and you’re going to have to deal with it."
