China's State Media Points to Donald the 'Clown' Trump's Rise to Undermine the Notion of Democracy

Trump frequently assures Americans that we're a laughingstock according to the rest of the world. "China laughs at us," he's been saying for years. The scary thing is, Trump's 100 percent correct—just not quite the way he meant it. 

China’s state-owned Global Times is using Donald Trump’s rise as an example of the flaws in U.S. society and to argue that democracy is both a waste of time, and scary. The article points out that both Mussolini and Hilter came to power through elections and describes Trump’s hijacking of the Republican Party perfectly:

"At the beginning of the election, Trump, a rich, narcissist and inflammatory candidate, was only treated as an underdog. His job was basically to act as a clown to attract more voters' attention to the GOP. However, knocking down most other promising candidates, the clown is now the biggest dark horse."

The article ends with a warning to America: “The U.S. better watch itself.”
