Marijuana Laced-Honey: The Bees Don't Catch a Buzz, But Can You?

Somewhere in France, the man who calls himself Nicholas Trainerbees is harvesting honey produced by bees who feasted on marijuana. And he's starting to create quite a buzz.

The man who says he is an artisan, a locksmith, medical marijuana proponent advocate of marijuana legalization, and above all, a bee keeper, is being toasted as a visionary by some, even though are a few skeptics on his Facebook page and in the comments on early reports about his trained bees.

Yes, trained bees. According to Counter Current News, Nicholas, who says he has "been passionate about nature since childhood,"  has put in 20 years enticing the bees to collect sugars from fruits instead of flowers. Now, he says he's trained them to collect the psychoactive resin from pot plants.

"I have trained bees to do several things, such as collect sugar from fruits, instead of using flowers," he explains.

"For some time I had known about the health benefits of bee products such as honey, propolis, pollen, wax and royal jelly and also about the benefits of cannabis," he explained. "Everything that passes through the body of a bee is improved," he added.

"So if the bee took the resin from cannabis it would also be very beneficial. The aim arose for me to get the bees to obtain this resin."

And he did, and they did, producing a creamy, yellowish "cannahoney" with "quite a floral aroma" and psychoactive effects—at least for humans, Trainerbee said

Not so much for the bees, though. When it comes to cannhoney, they're not flying high; they're just being good little worker-bees.

"The bees that produce the cannahoney are not affected by cannabinoids because they do not have an endocannabinoid system," he explained. "It’s just another form of food for them."
