WATCH: Bernie Sanders Has Defied All Expectations: Jimmy Kimmel Asks Him, 'Are You Surprised?'
Senator Bernie Sanders came to Los Angeles this week and met with voters on Hollywood Boulevard.
“Have you gotten acclimated to L.A.?” late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel asked Sanders. “It is a bit of a shock,” admitted the Democratic presidential candidate.
"You have Secret Service protection, as all the candidates do. Tonight, you were out on Hollywood Boulevard just talking to people. Does the Secret Service hate when you do that?” Kimmel asked.
“Yes, but you know, it brings you into the real world and it kind of breaks through the isolation,” the Vermont senator replied, adding, “I love doing that, and that’s what I’ve done my whole life."

“I have to admit to you, when you were on our show in October when we were in Brooklyn, I thought, Oh this is a very smart guy, he has some very interesting ideas, he obviously loves this country. But there’s no way we’ll still be seeing him in March," said Kimmel. “And yet here you are.” The crowd cheered.
“Are you surprised by this?” Kimmel asked.
Sanders replied:
Yes and no. I thought the message that we had would resonate. The middle class is disappearing. People are working longer hours for lower wages. We have so much poverty, and almost all new income and wealth is going to the top 1 percent. And it spreads from conservatives to progressives. People are really angry about a corrupt campaign finance system that allows very, very wealthy people to spend unlimited sums of money to buy elections.
Sanders won Utah and Idaho, two of the three states that voted on Tuesday. California votes June 7.
